My First Blog - Introduction to Me and My Epic Novel

Okay, so this is my first blog. Ever. I figure since I'm a writer, it's a good idea to have one. So here it is. I'm going to keep it simple so it is easy to navigate, yet I'm keeping the darkness to set the mood of my books.


I'm Mikaela. I live in Connecticut where I am currently writing a fiction epic/saga. I like to tell stories -  really long stories - and one book would not hold everything I want to tell. I started with three outlines, then four. Now it's five outlines and maybe six.


My book is a deep one. I'm working with the title Night is The New Day for the first book and the name series. It pretty much sums up what the story is about.


So, you want to know more about me or the book? Let's see...me: I like to indulge in the darker side of my soul, yet try to keep it in balance with the good side. I live a good life, one of Light, yet I like to write about the Dark. I firmly believe in the Balance of Light and Dark. This theme plays heavily in my book series. I suppose my books are me, in a way, since they are born of my mind.


I have over 40,000 words written in book 1, over 30,000 in book 2, not as much in book 3, much less in book 4, and an outline for book 5. I am working on all of them at once, because I need to see how the thread of one story weaves itself through the rest of the books. Besides, it helps stave off writers block. I'm constantly writing, whether it be in book 1 or book 4.


Let me introduce you to my characters:


The main character of my story is Summer Holloway. She is 16 and lives in Bozeman, Montana. She's a junior in high school and has 3 close friends: Joseph Evans, Johnna Shea and Alex Vargas. Joseph is her childhood friend and closest male friend. He lives a few miles up the road from her and is a senior at Bozeman High School. Johnna is her friend since 4th grade and her "BFF". Summer is friends with Alex, but not as close to him as she is with her other friends. Alex and his father moved to Bozeman from Puerto Rico when Alex was in 6th grade. Alex and Johnna are dating, and are also in the same grade as Summer.


So now that you get the basic idea of my characters, I will tell you the basic plot. Summer starts out as a young, naive girl who has never traveled outside of Montana. She is innocent and has no idea of the outside world. Her world is school, home and her friends. She finds herself involved in world of darkness far greater than she has ever imagined. And that's all I'm going to say. You may get whiffs of the rest of the story as I post this blog.


It's very nice to meet you, and I hope that you will join me in my journey. I welcome all advice, all critiques, but please, keep it clean. Let's discuss, not fight and argue. Let's talk about the beautiful side of Darkness.
